Week of May 21st “Mixing, Science, & Concoctions”
Monday:
Preschool 1: Today we’re exploring the science backpack. We will also make some new play dough for our classroom and explore different kinds of seashells.
Preschool 2: We will read “Pop! A Book About Bubbles” by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley and we will make some ooey gooey gunk. Outside we will practice our shapes and do a shape hop.
Tuesday:
Preschool 1: Cooking Day! We are making baking powder biscuits today for snack. Ask your child how we made the biscuits. We will also do a bubbly bubble experiment and play the freeze game outside.
Preschool 2: We are talking about the weather today during group time. We will also be making sparkle shakers and using them to make some music. Outside today we will play “Look At What I Can Do…”.
Wednesday:
Preschool 1: During group today we will be talking about the primary colors and looking at the color wheel. During the art today we will be mixing different colors together to make new ones.
Preschool 2: We are going to have lots of fun today making magic muck. Ask your child how we make the muck and what we put in it. We will also be doing a magnifying size sort game and working on our size comparison skills.
Thursday:
Preschool 1: Today we are doing a sink or float experiment in the sensory table. We will also be reading “Changing Shape” by Patricia Whitehouse during group and watercolor painting during art.
Preschool 2: Today we are making a graph of our favorite concoctions. We will also read “What Makes a Magnet” by Franklin M. Branley and do some 3-D puffy art.
Friday:
Preschool 1: Today we are going to talk about how we make bubbles and do an oil and water experiment. Outside we will blow bubbles and chase them around the playground.
Preschool 2: We are focusing on the letter “Z” today. We will find the letter “Z” on the sentence strips and we will practice writing the letter “Z”.
